Patriarch Bartholomew Accepted as a Member of the Académie Française
His All-Holiness Bartholomeos I has been accepted as a member of the prestigious Académie Française, one of the world’s most distinguished institutions in the fields of language and culture.
On the occasion of this significant achievement, the President of the Marmara Group Foundation, Akkan Suver, issued the following statement: “The election of Patriarch Bartholomew to the Académie Française is a remarkable event. We, as the Marmara Group Foundation, warmly congratulate him on becoming the first Turkish citizen to receive this distinguished honor.
His election to such a prestigious institution, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading centers of science and culture, is a great source of pride for our country. We attach great importance to this recognition and express our sincere gratitude to Patriarch Bartholomew for bringing such honor to our nation.” The official induction ceremony of Patriarch Bartholomew will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the afternoon at the Institut de France. On the same day, he will be received by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu.
